I’ve previously reflected on my personal journey to purpose and how that has been a lifelong adventure for me. As we move through 2024, this current season of purpose has provided me with opportunities to self-actualize. I've reached a crucial point where finding my purpose is about becoming my best version. It's been a time of deep reflection and growth, leading me to new challenges and achievements that show not just what I want, but my dedication to improving myself and guiding others. Some of these opportunities have also allowed me to tap into my family legacy and continue work that others before me have started. Your journey toward personal fulfillment may look different than mine, but my hope in sharing is to inspire you to stride towards them in your journey.
The Birth of Barbara Howell Park Conservancy: A Testament to Vision and Commitment
A significant stride in my journey has been the establishment of the Barbara Howell Park Conservancy's board of directors. The mission and vision of the conservancy is to establish and maintain a sustainable park that serves as a catalyst for community interconnectedness and revitalizes the historic black neighborhood of Urbana, Ohio. Barbara Howell is my Grandmother and this park was named after her in 1998 in honor of the impact she had on her community in Urbana, Ohio. She was instrumental in the leading and advancement of the Head Start program for the youth in the community, growing the organization's reach and impact to new levels that dramatically affected the local community in positive ways.
Now with the establishment of the Barbara Howell Park Conservancy Board of Directors, we've laid the cornerstone of what promises to be a transformative endeavor. Our immediate goal is to secure 501c3 status, setting the stage for strategic initiatives that reflect our the conservancy's vision and mission for community and environmental stewardship. This endeavor is more than a project; it's a manifestation of my commitment to leaving a lasting legacy.
